Ethos of the school
As a successful secondary school we endeavour to:
- provide a caring, supportive and challenging environment where pupils are encouraged to explore and develop their full potential
- foster the self-esteem of pupils based on a Christian ethos and mutual respect
- ensure the overall well-being of each pupil
- promote attitudes through which pupils may become responsible members of society
- offer each pupil a high quality education and a pathway to further education and training
- develop the skills and attitudes necessary for young people to respond effectively to the challenges of the 21st century
- promote and encourage active participation in school activities and to develop a sense of pride in Devenish College
- establish a creative and secure partnership between the school, home and the community
Pupils are rewarded through the well-established House system and the positive reward programme. In addition to this there is also the opportunity for pupils to achieve recognition through the ‘gifted and talented’ scheme.
