introduction
Welcome
I would like to welcome you to the Devenish College website which has been designed to help keep you up to date with what goes on in the College.
The College is an 11-18 all ability controlled secondary school based in the Western Education and Library Board area. It attracts pupils from a wide geographical area and there are currently 574 pupils enrolled, including 110 pupils studying Post 16 courses.
We firmly believe that each pupil can fulfil his or her potential in a nurturing environment regardless of background or prior attainment. Pupils are offered a wide range of subjects and experiences designed to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes required for the 21st century.
Devenish College came into existence in September 2004 following the amalgamation of the Duke of Westminster High School and Enniskillen High School. The Principals of the two schools involved in the merger, Mr D McKee and Mr V Outram, retired and Mr M Walker was appointed as Principal of the College.
The interim Board of Governors, comprised of members from Governors of both schools, decided on the name of Devenish College based on the idea of Devenish as a long term seat of learning. Rev R Thompson was the first Chair of the Board of Governors. A new uniform and badge was designed.
Initially the College was based on a split site (Kesh and Enniskillen) and in August 2006 the Kesh campus closed. All pupils are now accommodated on the Enniskillen site pending the completion of a new school build on the Tempo Road in Enniskillen.
