Devenish protest at Stormont
Representatives from Devenish including Governors, Parents, Teachers and Students travelled to Stormont on Tuesday 1 June 2010, along with representatives from Portora Royal School and Erne school, to express their dissatisfaction with the delays to the promised new build.
Those who travelled had the opportunity to make their views known to the media and the various politicians from across the political sprectum who took time out of their busy schedules to speak with them. A question was also tabled at Education Question Time in the Assembly but time ran out before the question could be put to the Minister.
Not to be put off the Principal, Chair of the Governors and Parent representative Mr Joe Graham grabbed the initiative to put their questions directly to her after waiting to meet her. Needless to say her answers were evasive but she cannot be in any doubt that we have waited too long for answers and that, whatever patience we have left, is wearing thin.
Our thanks to our colleagues in Erne and Portora for their support in keeping the issue of the Devenish build and the schools’ estate in Fermanagh on the agenda in these difficult financial times. Credit must go to our Chairman Mr Alex Baird for co-ordinating the day.
