The Pied Piper of Hamelin

Our Pantomime for this year is “The Pied Piper of Hamelin”. Evening performances will be held in the School Hall at 7.30 pm on Friday 9 December and Saturday 10 December and tickets can be bought from the School Office. We very much hope you are able to attend.

On recent years coming up to Christmas, the students, parents and staff of the school have made a special effort to raise funds for charities. This year, funds will be shared between the following two charities:

CANCER CONNECT NI

AND

ALZHEIMER’S SOCIETY

As part of our efforts to raise funds for these worthy causes, we will have a raffle during each of the two evening performances of the pantomime. The prizes will mainly consist of Christmas Food Hampers. Once again we rely on parental and students’ support for this to be a continued success.

If possible, parents are asked to donate suitable items which include cakes, bottles, tinned or packet products, confectionery or indeed any gifts suitable for raffle prizes or cash donations. (No perishable goods i.e. fruit or vegetables)

If you feel you can support our efforts, please send in your gifts as soon as possible and no later than Wednesday 7 December so that they can be made up into hampers. All contributions will be very much appreciated and I would thank you in advance for your support.

As in other years, on the last day of the Christmas Term – Tuesday 20 December, we propose to finish school at 12.00 pm. The school and gates will be closed at 12.30 pm. There will be no transport at that time or school meals during the day, although students who are entitled to a free school meal can avail of a packed lunch if ordered the day before.

School resumes on Wednesday 4 January 2017. Year 11 will take part in a Study Skills Session on this day. On Friday 6 January, Year 9 will take part in a STEM Robotics Day and on Monday 9 January, we will have a visit from the band of the Royal Air Force.

Examinations for students in Year 10, 11 and 12 commence on Tuesday 10 January. Students in Years 8 and 9 are assessed on an on-going basis so whilst they will not sit formal examinations at this time, they may be sitting class tests.

Wishing you a Happy Christmas and New Year.
Yours sincerely
